The earth is yours helps to make it greener-it’s the time to say no to plastic

Reports show that our environment is filling up with plastic and by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in our waterways. Single-use plastics bags are a huge part of the problem. The problem is that these bags contain polyethylene and cannot biodegrade. If they aren't recycled or disposed of properly, they become pollution to soil, water, air, etc.

This equals trouble for not only us and our environment but animals and other wildlife as well. They don’t break down, only break into smaller pieces and they do not biodegrade within any human timescale. By stopping the distribution of plastic bags at the point of sale, and motivating people to use reusable bags, we can stop this pollution before it starts.

The plastic pollution problem can feel overwhelming, but there are actions we can all take to make a difference. Here are some best practices we like to share with you to avoid plastic usage from our daily lives.
Don’t use single-use plastics
This category includes plastic bags, straws, dry cleaning bags, water bottles, food containers, and coffee cups, etc. Avoid disposable cups & tableware. Use the compostable kind
Say no to all plastic bags & other packages as far as possible. Discard plastic bottles at home and switch to glass, clay, stainless steel or copper bottles. If you are traveling, carry your own non-plastic bottle so that you can transfer the water.
If you have plastic water filters, switch to clay pots. They are perfect for summer and naturally purify the water too. Change your tiffin boxes right now! For kids, stainless steel is safer.

Be conscientious when you shop
When you wash clothing made from polyester, acrylic, lycra, spandex, fleece or nylon, between 600,000 and 17.7 million microfibers per wash come loose. Because they are so tiny, water purification filters can’t trap them. Organic and natural fabrics like cotton, wool, and linen may be the safest options when it comes to your health.
Choose products packaged in natural materials such as bamboo, corn-starch, potato starch, cocoa bean shells, glass, grass paper, wood, cotton, hemp, algae, lignin or mycelium (mushroom). Don’t buy products that contain microbeads (bits of plastic used as exfoliants). Buy in bulk whenever possible, and when shopping, bring your own reusable containers and shopping bags.

In an effort to reduce unnecessary waste, some countries have placed bans on plastic bags. Start your own cleanup or join an existing one.
Take a pledge to reduce your plastic use
